Since its inception Sir John Soane's Museum has inspired countless generations of students – and continues to do so today.
We welcome group visits by students in higher or further education. These can be in the form of a self-guided tour of the Museum or a teaching session in the Research Library and Archive, which can also be consulted by students working on individual research. The Museum also regularly works with university groups on extended projects.
Whilst social distancing measures are in place until at least March 2021, all of our tours are being organised as virtual visits to the Museum via video conferencing. Please do be in touch with us on email@example.com and we can organise a visit that suits your needs.
If you would like to book a group visit to the Museum, please use our online booking system. To arrange a Research Library session, in the first instance please contact Frances Sands, Curator of Drawings and Books, at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the feasibility and content of the your session.
Our Research Library contains Soane’s collection of 30,000 architectural drawings and 10,000 books, along with a small working Library of modern books and information files on Soane, Robert Adam and other relevant architects. The Archive contains Soane’s business and personal papers. Students are welcome to consult this material by booking an appointment.
The Museum has worked on extended projects with groups from a number of universities, including the Architectural Association, The Bartlett School of Architecture, the Royal College of Art, and the London College of Fashion. If you are a university or FE teacher and would like to discuss an extended project, email email@example.com.
