Soane's Portals to the Past on Minecraft Education Back to top
Bring history to life with Soane's Portals to the Past - Minecraft Education’s first world dedicated to creative thinking, architecture and design in the AI era, created by Sir John Soane’s Museum.
Students can embark on an epic adventure through the curious corners of the Museum before travelling through portals to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. As they explore, they’ll unlock the building blocks of classical architecture and use them to design and build their own creations. It's a one-of-a-kind experience that will bring history and architecture to life for students worldwide, available for schools to download as part of the Microsoft Office 365 Education licence.
Classroom resources and lesson plans which encourage students to problem solve, think creatively and reinterpret information while playing the game are also available to download for free on the Minecraft Education website.
Soane's Portals to the Past has been supported by John Clappier, Lady Brittan, The Rothschild Foundation and Lord and Lady Sassoon. The game was created by BlockBuilders, a UK-based third-party developer.
