Join us for a special talk to learn more about architectural models and the key role they play in the design process.
This exclusive event will explore the creation of the London City model currently on display at Sir John Soane’s Museum, as part of a specially commissioned installation in the Foyle Space by RSHP (formerly Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners) - RSHP Architects in Dialogue - displaying projects past, present and future, and their influence on modern architecture and urban design in London and globally. Members of the RSHP team will explore how the architect and modelmaker collaborate, and the important role the model plays in the design process.
Kelly Darlington, RSHP Modelshop Manager, will discuss the thinking behind the choice of materials and scale, and guide the group through the entire making process—highlighting how traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques were combined. John McElgunn, Senior Director at RSHP, will provide a brief history of the projects included in the model and talk about the practice’s role as city makers. Together, these methods helped create a captivating exhibition model that reflects the breadth and evolution of the practice’s work over the years.
