Frances Sands
Sir William Chambers' forgotten masterpiece: a mausoleum for Frederick, Prince of Wales

This session will explore a small series of drawings within the Soane Museum collection by Sir William Chambers, produced during the earliest years of his career as an architect during his Grand Tour. The drawings give Chambers’ unexecuted design for an elaborate mausoleum dedicated to Frederick, Prince of Wales, the father of King George III.

Dr Frances Sands is the Curator of Drawings and Books at Sir John Soane’s Museum where she has worked since 2010.
