The Soane Museum Study Group is an open forum for scholars – both established and emerging – to present new research into an aspect of architectural history and/or Soane’s collection.

Roberto Rossi: Sir John Soane’s Commissioner Churches

This talk will examine Soane’s three Commissioner Churches built in the 1820s: Holy Trinity, Marylebone, St Peter’s, Walworth and St John’s, Bethnal Green, all in London. The architectural drawings in the Soane and other collections, and documentary evidence will be used to assess the designs and features of each church, their historical contexts and their reception.
