Join architect Eric Parry and Senior Curator Owen Hopkins in conversation at Sir John Soane’s Museum to mark our current exhibition Eric Parry: Drawing and the launch of the new publication of the same title.
In this intimate event, held in the Library dining room of Sir John Soane’s Museum, Parry and Hopkins will discuss the role of drawing in Parry’s architectural practice, with reference to the sketchbooks, technical drawings and competition designs on display throughout the museum and to the preceding conversations between architect and curator in the build up to the exhibition. The evening will explore Parry’s use of drawing as a design tool, and as a way of engaging with the world in which buildings exist and which they play a part in shaping. The talk will be followed by an audience Q&A and drinks reception, with an opportunity to explore the museum and exhibition after hours.
Monday 8 April 2019
Talk 18:30 to 19:00, followed by drinks reception and a chance to explore the Museum until 20:00
Doors open at 18:15

In tandem with the exhibition, the Soane is producing a publication examining the drawings of Eric Parry.
The text comprises a dialogue between Parry and Owen Hopkins, Senior Curator at Sir John Soane's Museum, London. The dialogue is arranged across ten episodes relating to themes and ideas that emerged over a series of conversations during the creation of the exhibition at the Museum in Spring 2019.
