Our Research Library houses Sir John Soane’s collection of 30,000 architectural drawings and 7,000 books, along with a small working library of modern books and information files on Soane, Robert Adam and other relevant architects.
The Archive contains Soane’s business and personal papers.
You can visit the Research Library and Archive by appointment, Wednesday to Friday, 10:00 to 13:00, 14:00 to 17:00.
To make an appointment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We strongly encourage visitors to make appointments two weeks in advance, as space is very limited. The Library is on the first floor and is not accessible to wheelchair users. However, staff are happy to bring drawings, books and archives down to the ground floor on a Tuesday (when the Museum is closed) or at other times by appointment.
Image reproduction requests and related questions should be sent to the Picture Library. Please click here to find out more.
The Museum has compiled a free-to-use bibliography covering the Museum, its collections, and Sir John Soane’s life and architecture. Click the link below to download.
