Evening Opening

The Museum is lit by candlelight on the first Tuesday of each month, between 6 and 9pm (last entry 8:00pm).  This event is extremely popular, and we suggest arriving as early as possible to avoid disappointment.  The queue generally builds up from around 5pm.  The first 60 people will be invited in to the house, and then we operate a one in one out system for the evening.  We do not provide tours.  Average visiting time is about an hour or so.

In order to operate a fair entry policy we do not take bookings for the evening opening.  We ask that you do not reserve spaces in the queue for late-comers out of respect for the people who have patiently queued behind you.

Dates for 2012:

7 February, 6 March, 3 April, 1 May, There will be no evening opening in June, 3 July, 7 August, 4 September, 2 October, 6 November, 4 December

Please note the Museum is always closed on Sundays, Mondays and Bank Holidays, including Tuesday 5th June for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations.
