Blind and partially sighted visitors
The Museum welcomes blind and partially sighted visitors. Assistance dogs are also welcome. We will always try, if requested in advance, to audio describe the Museum and its contents and to lead a touch tour for you.
For advice or to book a Museum session for blind and partially sighted visitors, please get in touch with our Community Education Officer, Kenn Taylor:
The Museum provides large-print copies of the labels and panels for temporary exhibitions held in the Soane Gallery, which can be borrowed by any visitor for the duration of their visit. If these are not obvious, please ask the member of staff in the Gallery for assistance.
A Large Print version of the Short Guide to the Museum is availble to borrow for the duration of your visit. Please request this from the staff member on the front desk upon arrival. A braille version of the Short Guide is also availble in the Library and can be provided with advance notice.
Please note that the Museum uses very little artificial light so, if possible, it is advisable to visit when natural light levels are highest. Torches or additional overhead illumination can sometimes be provided on request.
