This delicious blend produced exclusively for Sir John Soane’s Museum using a selection of teas enjoyed by the Soanes in Lincoln's Inn Fields. This black tea is a blend of Chinese Keemun Mao Feng, Yunnan and Lapsang Souchong, specially created by master tea blender Alex Probyn
Tea was the main non-alcoholic beverage consumed by the Soanes and was imported only from China. It was either black or green and taken weak, often with the addition of sugar.
Tea was an expensive commodity, and was kept under lock and key by the Mistress of the house or the Housekeeper. The drinking of tea was a social occasion with supporting rituals. If you would like to know more about the Soanes domestic arrangements you can read ‘The Soanes at Home’ by the Museum’s Archivist, Susan Palmer.
