GLOW Necklace (pair)

Sir John Soane’s Museum is very proud to present an exclusive range of jewellery developed in collaboration with students and alumni of Royal Collage  of Art’s Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery MA Course. We asked the students to translate their artistic response to Soane’s eccentric house and collection into jewellery for us to sell in our newly opened shop and we have been thrilled with the quality and originality of the range they have designed for us.

Silvia is a winner of the prestigious Jerwood Makers Open 2012

Silvia and Tobias’s Inspiration:

GLOWis at first glance a small intricate sculpture with an exuberantly modelled translucent structure. Exposed to light, this thin porous shell transforms into a radiant object, activating a multitude of views.

Taking Soane’s fascination with the quality of light expressed in the Museum, and his lifelong friendship with JMW Turner as a starting point, W/K set out to create an object, able to translate this very notion of solidified sunlight. Inspired by the myriad unique moments of a fleeting sunset, this highly ornate piece is designed to create one singular event, when breaking the object into two pieces.

GLOW is made with 3D printing technology, only by breaking it in two and pulling out the hidden chain, you turn it into two wearable pieces of jewellery.

It is a direct action, a unique event - leaving you with two exquisite creations.
