Furniture History: The Journal of the Furniture History Society

This special issue of the annual publication of The Furniture History Society is a catalogue of the furniture in Sir John Soane’s Museum by Helen Dorey. It’s a comprehensive review of the extensive and varied collection of furniture owned by Sir John Soane.  It’s beautifully illustrated with colour photographs and artwork.   

The museum was first opened to the public on 4^th April 1837, under three months after Soane’s death, and it was the very first British museum to display furniture as a major component of its collections. Sir John Soanes unique furniture collection is an eclectic assortment ranging from collector’s trophies of the highest quality to basic downstairs objects, and lots in-between.

The journal of the Furniture History Society, is an extensively illustrated scholarly journal normally issued annually to members only. It is the only journal devoted to the history of furniture from all parts of the world and is internationally recognized as authoritative
