Opening up the Soane will be the most comprehensive programme of restoration and refurbishment in the Museum's history. Since fundraising began in 2007 the Museum has successfully managed to raise £6.5M of the £7M needed to complete the project. Whilst £500,000 may seem like a relatively small proportion, raising this much money still poses a challenge for an institution the size of the Soane. The list below outlines how even a modest donation can be of real help to the Museum.
|
£10 would pay for a set of brushes to clean of one of the framed artworks to be re-hung. £30 might buy a book of gold leaf for the re-gilding of Soane’s ‘Sunburst’ ceiling in the Tivoli Recess |
£50 could help with the surface cleaning of a stone or plaster sculpture. £75 would pay for ½ a day’s conservation work, enough to prepare for re-display of one of thehundreds of objects which make up the lost Soane interiors such as the Ante-room. |
|
£200 could help restore a Model stand for Soane’s original model room. |
Any donation of £30 or more qualifies the donor for a year’s membership of the Soane Supporters’ Circle. This means that in addition to receiving our quarterly newsletter you will also have the opportunity to attend the Museum’s Annual Lecture and selected other events.
The Museum has several different methods of accepting donations. Please feel free to use whichever suits you best.
Please note that any online donation qualifies the donor to become a member of the Museum's iSoane group, people with an interest in the Museum and its activities who receive our e-newsletter three times a year. To join, just tick the contact by email box when making your donation.
