Opening of London Bridge lent to Greenwich

Soane and his hosuekeeper are at the centre of the pictureSir John Soane's Museum is pleased to announce that our fabulous oil painting, "The Opening of London Bridge, 1831" by George Jones, complete with its beautifully restored frame, has gone on loan to the National Maritime Museum as part of their fabulous new exhibtion "Royal River: Power; Pageantry and the Thames", which opens today, 27th April.  The painting will be at Greenwich for the next six months, when it will return to the Soane as part of our rehang of the North Drawing Room and phase two of the OUTS project.
