Oil Paintings on the Public Catalogue Foundation Website

For the first time, the entire oil painting collection of Sir John Soane's Museum has been made available digitally, as part of the Public Catalogue Foundation's efforts to publish the nation's entire oil painting collection online.  The Soane's 77 paintings take their place alongside those in the collection of the other major national collections, such as the National Gallery and the Tate, as well as some lesser known groups in public ownership, such as the Trade Union Council and the Royal Free Hospital, in a project that aims to document and publish the estimated 200,000 oil paintings in public ownership in the UK.  To view the collection, please visit the BBC's Your Paintings website, or to find out more about the Sir John Soane's Museum collections, please visit our Collections pages.  As part of the OUTS project, the Museum plans to make its fabulous collections available through our own website - updates will follow throughout the year.
