Commentary

This entry probably does not refer to the foundations being dug at the back on the west side of the courtyard, which are mentioned in the previous entry (Tuesday 25th August) but to those being laid at the front, for the loggia.  Soane's reference to my house signifies Number 12, and not the new building at Number 13.
