As the streets of London grew busier Sophie and Alex set off towards the Sir John Soane museum, they very often visited this museum as the admission was free and were very poor. The poorness of their family was so extreme it made them terribly unhappy. Most of the money their parents earned went towards the rent of the flat they lived in. All they dreamed about was how happy they’d be if they were rich.

When finally they arrived at the museum they started looking around and Sophie spotted this beautiful painting. She had never seen it before as it was stuffed right into the corner of the room.

"Look at that Alex" she whispered with astonishment

"WOW!"He gasped, "It’s amazing."

They walked towards it and settled down in front of it. Sophie and Alex gazed up at the painting in amazment, with their mouths wide open,they had never seen anything like it before. It was a painting of Sir John Soane himself .The more they stared at the picture the they felt they understood his feelings. One minute he looked relaxed, the next he looked terrifyingly mean.

While Alex carried on staring at the amazing painting, Sophie wondered off into the next room.

"Hi" said a deep voice.

"Who’s that ?" Alex asked as he turned his head to see nobody there.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" "It’s me Sir John Soane." The painting replied. Just then Alex thought he saw the man in the paintings mouth move, the painting asked "What’s your name?"

"Alex" he replied.

"How comes you can speak?" Alex asked the man in the painting.
