The Mirror
by Kirsty
Once along ancient time ago there was a girl named Holly. She was a small cubby girl who never did anything wrong so when this happened she was astonished.
It was Holly’s 11th birthday and the thing she had always longed for was a wooden dressing table with a tall mirror but she knew her parents couldn’t afford it so she put it to the back of her mind and waited in great suspense at what she would get for her birth day.
The time finally came she ran down the stairs excited at 6.00 in the morning to find her parents standing there with a huge box. Holly opened the box and to her great surprise it was a beautiful dark wooden dressing table with a tall mirro so she could admire herself.
It was like a big, crazy dream and she couldn’t believe it was happening to her on her birthday, she had always wanted one of these since she was five years old. Holly set up her table and nearly cried of happiness. The things she most admired where the busts decorating the outside of the mirror. But suddenly just as she was looking and admiring herself,
one of the busts called flora said " I see you like our mirror don’t you?"
" y…y…yes I love it, I think it’s wonderful" holly replied frightened.
" well why don’t you come inside if you like it so much?"
" I would love to, but I think I had better go and tell my mum as she might get a bit worried"
then in a kind of witchy voice another bust named sappo butted Iin and said
" Hi my names sappo, anyway I’d just like to add, you can not tell your mum as the magic wont work and and you can’t come in.
holly hesitated but the said hastily, to get it over and done with " I won’t tell my mum so long as you promise to let me out when I want." Al the busts agreed and all said together,
"we promise!!!"
sappo again said " take the pearl from the dresser and repeat this chant after me,"
"ok" holly agreed
"take me to this mirror
I wish for you pearl
stone
Take me to my destination
And I will not moan,
So say that chant while holdin the stone and you shall go through the mirror, and nothing at all can go wrong."
