Strange but not true
by Tahmina
One cold misty night in Italy Raphael and his two sons, Antonyo and Angerlo sat by the fire place listening to their father's stories about Sir John Soane.
"I had painted many pictures for him." Raphael smiled.
"Did he have any children?" Antonyo said.
"Yes, he did. Their names were John and George." said Raphael.
"Father, can we meet Sir John Soane and his sons?" Angerlo said.
"Maybe tomorrow, not today, Angerlo." Raphael gave his son a hug.
"Now boys, go to bed, it's almost midnight." said Raphael yawning. "You've got a busy day ahead."
"Goodnight, Father." said both Angerlo and Antonyo.
"Goodnight, sons."
Antonyo and Angerlo were just about to go up the spiral staircase when they heard boots stomping, chains clanging and floorboards creaking.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh." they both screamed running to their father.
"What is it boys?" Raphael shouted.
"We heard boots stomping." Antonyo said, gripping hold of his brother's hand.
"You boys are making a fuss over nothing." Raphael said.
Raphael marched up the stairs not knowing his sons were telling the truth.
"Ahhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhh." Raphael screamed.
His sons were too terrified to find out what was happening.
Antonyo and Angerlo did not realise that it was the last scream of their father.
SO WHAT WAS UP THE STAIRS?
