The Soanes at Home: A Day in the Life of Regency London

24 October 1997 - 28 February 1998

Until Soane's death in 1837, his house at No. 13 Lincoln's Inn Fields was a home not a Museum. 'The Soanes at Home' exhibition depicts the daily lives of John Soane, his wife Eliza, and their busy household, as well as exploring Soane's London.

The story is told with paintings, drawings, watercolours, prints, letters and some of the delightfully illustrated tradesmen's bills of the period. There is also the scale model of the dining room in No. 12 Lincoln's Inn Fields (the home of the Soanes from 1794 - 1813 until they moved next door to No. 13) with the table laid for entertaining.
