Publicity and Access Consultative Team

The Soane was formerly part of the Publicity and Access Consultative Team, in conjunction with the Hunterian Museum. This was formed to improve both physical and intellectual access to the museums and their collections. Panel members either have experience of living with a disability or have an understanding of the issues involved and have an interest in museums and preserving the history of central London.

The Panel meet three times per year and helped introduce many of the resources and infrastructure that has greatly improved access to both museums.

This has included the introduction of Large Print guides for blind and partially sighted people, the introduction of induction loops and text versions of our audio guide for D/deaf and hard of hearing visitors and improvements in our shop layout to increase accessibility.

With its Heritage Lottery Funded redevelopment project drawing to a close, the Soane is no longer a member of PACT. For enquires about access for disabled people, visit here or you may contact our House and Visitor Services Manager here.
