Through stories, exercises and models explore five types of bridge, their shape, structure and history. Discover bridges which are famous, unusual or just on your doorstep. Duration 90 minutes.

Discover the Soane family in Georgian London through shadow play followed by a discovery box session with games and puzzles using the principles of Light and Shadows. Duration 90 minutes.

Bridges bring cities to life. Through games, exercises and models we explore the history and the challenges of bridge design. Duration 90 minutes.

Working with discovery boxes, explore how the theory of light and shadows is used to create curious, entertaining and dramatic effects by architects. Duration 90 minutes.

DOMES

Soane filled his Museum with domes: famous, astonishing, elegant and distinctive. Explore the history, properties and fascination of Soane's domes in this workshop and tour. Duration 2 hours.

Can buildings speak? Develop your visual, literacy and IT skills the Soane way using shapes to make patterns. Decode the messages on the face of famous buildings. Duration 2 hours.

Study examples of the finest achievements of Roman art, architecture, furniture, decorative and funereal artifacts which inspired Soane, a leading Neo-Classical architect. Duration 2 hours. Links with History

Weaving your way through Soane's labyrinth-like house/Museum, meet Hercules, explore the Greek Orders and discover the origins of the Olympic Games on a giant vase. Duration 2 hours. Links with History

EGYPTIANS

Trace the final journey of Pharaoh Seti I in hieroglyphics on the finest Egyptian sarcophagus ever discovered, the centrepiece of Soane's 'Sepulchral Chamber'. Duration 2 hours. Links with History

PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS

CONCRETE CRUSHATHON

Discover the secret of concrete structures in this hands-on workshop for budding builders. Make reinforced beams, then test them to destruction. Duration: full morning, two sessions, three weeks apart. Links with Science and DT
